UCGHI GloCal Health Fellowship Program Announces New Fellows and Co-Sponsors Mentorship Workshops

2013 GloCal Health Fellows Announced

The UC Global Health Institute is proud to announce the selection of the 2013 UCGHI GloCal Health Fellows. Funded by the Fogarty International Center (FIC) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the fellowship program, which is in its second year, provides global health research training opportunities for U.S. postdoctoral fellows, professional students, doctoral students, and junior faculty, as well as international postdoctoral fellows. Fellows come from any of the 10 UC campuses or 25 partnering international institutions. This year's fellows will be carrying out their fellowship research projects in diverse settings in lower-to-middle-income countries around the world, including India, Mexico, Mozambique, Kenya, Uganda, and Peru. UCGHI GloCal Health Fellowship Co-Sponsors Mentorship Workshop for Spanish Speaking Latin America Faculty in Lima, Peru

Monica Gandhi and Alicia Fernandez traveled to Lima, Peru in May to conduct a "Mentoring the Mentors" workshop sponsored by the UCGHI GloCal Fellowship Program. Lead PI, Dr. Craig Cohen, co-sponsored the two day workshop conducted May 23-24, 2013. Dr. Cohen will sponsor similar mentoring programs around the globe as part of his GloCal Health Fellowship program, including one scheduled for June 17-18, 2013 in Mombasa, Kenya to help institutionalize mentorship in East Africa.
