The Gender and Health Justice Fellows Program seeks to develop a public health workforce with specialized knowledge and skills to address the challenges of our time and create a future where gender and health justice is a reality.

Selected fellows will attend a Zoom orientation scheduled for June 29, 2026 and complete the following four short courses (July through August 2026) designed to complement and enhance the training of a new generation of the public health workforce to gain strong understanding and skills to advance gender and health justice:
- The State of the Science of Sexual and Reproductive Health
- HIV and Gender-based Violence and Discrimination
- Digital and Mobile Health Approaches in Domestic and Global Reproductive Health and HIV
- Community-Engaged Research Approaches to End Epidemics
Each course consists of 7 asynchronous recorded lectures (45 minutes). Lectures will be accompanied by short quizzes, discussion questions, readings or videos. Each course must be completed in two week intervals. There will be 4 mandatory half-day, live discussion sessions held over Zoom, with one discussion session associated with each course. The discussion sessions are tentatively scheduled to take place on:
- July 17, 2026 (10am-2pm)
- July 31, 2026 (10am-2pm)
- August 14, 2026 (10am-2pm), and
- August 28, 2026 (10am-2pm)
Discussion sessions will include an interactive discussion with faculty, allotted time to complete evaluations of the course, and a focus group discussion centered around fellows’ experience with the course. Additionally, fellows will complete an evaluation of the program.
The total time to complete the summer fellows program is about 75 hours. Selected fellows will receive $1,000 for completing the program.
We invite individuals who meet the following eligibility criteria to apply:
- Be an undergraduate student, enrolled at a UC campus during the 2026-2027 academic year OR be a MPH student, enrolled at a UC campus during the 2026-2027 academic year
- Have a strong interest in gender and health justice topics
- Be committed to complete the entire program (asynchronous, synchronous, and evaluative components discussed above)
- Have no competing obligations that will interfere from fully participating in the program

UCGHI’s Center for Gender and Health Justice (CGHJ) promotes justice and scientific advances to reduce gender and health inequities.
