An Asia regional scientific workshop for trainees affiliated with GloCal and other Fogarty LAUNCH programs was held at Hanoi Medical University (HMU) in Vietnam between May 8-10, 2024. The GloCal team partnered with colleagues at HMU and the UJMT LAUNCH Consortium to sponsor and co-host this workshop. LAUNCH fellows and alumni whose fellowships had taken place in the Asia region during the past five years were invited to participate. Attendees included trainees who have conducted research in Vietnam, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Malaysia. The workshop encompassed keynote talks and interactive sessions led by participating GloCal and UJMT affiliated U.S. and low and middle income (LMIC) faculty on novel topics such as artificial intelligence; crowd-sourcing and co-creation; mentoring; individual development plans; and HIV capacity-building, and also incorporated work-in-progress presentations by the trainees and time for networking.
