Student Engagement Opportunities
The UC Global Health Institute and its Centers are offering two programs for UCGHI Student Ambassadors who are interested in issues of global health, with a focus on planetary health, one health, gender justice, and health equity.
1) Student engagement opportunities will be routinely added below throughout the academic year for students who are looking for volunteer and learning opportunities in global health.
2) Students interested in paid summer 2024 internships can browse the opportunities listed to the right. All internship opportunities have an application deadline of January 31, 2024.
1) Rx One Health Field Institute Course
The Rx One Health Field Institute inspires ecosystem health stewardship in future leaders through a carefully curated curriculum weaving themes across a host of disciplines including ecology, epidemiology, conservation, and leadership.
The institute provides a multi-faceted experiential learning opportunity for early career professionals and graduate students through innovative, experiential learning from leading researchers in some of the world’s most unique ecosystems. Applications are due January 31, 2024.

2) Summer Work Experience Program
The Summer Work Experience Program is coordinated by the UCGHI Center for Planetary Health in partnership with the University of California Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources Cooperative Extension (UC ANR) and California Department of Conservation (DOC), and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). This program offers students a unique hands-on opportunity to work on projects related to natural resources, agriculture, climate change, health and nutrition, youth development and environmental policy. 3) UC Global Health Day 2024 Student Planning Committee
The UC Global Health Institute is seeking dedicated Student Ambassadors with excellent communication and teamwork skills to join the UC Global Health Day 2024 Student Planning Committee. As a student volunteer, you will play a vital role in shaping UCGHI's signature research conference, collaborating with global health professionals, and contributing fresh perspectives to the planning of the conference.
Responsibilities include 1) Participate in planning committee Zoom calls; 2) Promote the conference within your academic network; 3) Contribute ideas for the Student Ambassador reception taking place the evening before the conference; and 4) Assist the UCGHI core team with the registration table and other assigned duties on the day of the conference.
By participating in this opportunity, students will gain networking opportunities with global health professionals, experience in event planning, and recognition on conference materials and at the Student Ambassador reception.
