Process & Criteria
A limited number of proposals will be selected for breakout sessions. A selection committee of UC faculty and students will review submissions. The committee will select sessions that best exemplify the breadth, depth and transformative nature of current global health research, program development, and field work conducted by members of the UC community. Topics may range from basic to translational sciences, engineering to social entrepreneurship, women’s health to global health diplomacy. UCGHI seeks a broad range of topics to feature the rich diversity of global health work being done across different disciplines. View examples of previous breakout session topics. Preference will be given to sessions featuring interactive formats (e.g. workshops, roundtable discussions, small group case studies, multi-media presentations) and sessions featuring demonstrated interdisciplinary and cross-campus collaborations.
Format
- Total word count of the proposal may not exceed 400 words
- Proposals should include: title, description, format, a/v & equipment needs (rooms are equipped with table, chairs and a projector)
- Proposal descriptions must clearly state objectives of the breakout session and demonstrate clear relevance to global health and UC Global Health Day
- Our goal is to feature an array of global health solutions to some of the world's greatest health challenges. This year we will examine solutions through the lens of the following tracks:
- Innovation
- Collaboration
- Addressing Barriers to Success
- Empowerment
